The 5 best Autumn boots for men

Autumn has arrived and we love it! The colder weather is just around the corner, and it’s time to layer up and get those boots on.

And, when we talk about boots, we mean proper boots - beautifully designed, hand-crafted, Made in England boots for the well-dressed gentleman.

So, here’s our quick guide to the 5 types of boots you need to consider for this leaf-crunching, conker-bashing time of year.

1. The chukka (or desert boot)
The timeless, flexible chukka should be a staple boot for any man’s wardrobe. Loved by Mods and great to wear casually in the Summer with jeans or for a smarter look in the Autumn with trousers, the chukka is the perfect early-Autumn boot.

Go for a coloured boot like these great Hi-Top moss green suede Chukka boots from Sanders.

For something with a bit more edge, and if you’re ready for a good Autumnal stomp then Dr Martens or Solovair boots are for you.

These classic British boots are iconic and we love the Dr. Martens Capper boots in oxblood, which were picked up from the Doc Shop for just £75.

Brogues are smart enough for work but also look great worn with jeans and a long tailored overcoat at the weekends.

Go chunky and go shiny and see if you can get hold of a pair of Tricker’s Stow brogue country boots in iris bookbinder.

4. The monk strap boot
Whether or not you go for a single buckle monk style boot like the Grosvenor in dark brown antique calf from Crockett & Jones, or you opt for a double buckle monk strap boot, you’ll know that you’ve somehow managed to tick both boxes when it comes to a robust yet elegant looking boot.

Check out Cheaney’s Freeman double buckle monk style boot for a timeless Autumn look.

5. The monkey boot
Whilst technically a type of combat boot, the monkey boot stands on its own two quirky feet. The monkey reference is said to come from the tractor-like tread giving the wearer the ability to ‘climb like a monkey’.

We just love their distinctive styling, and the black monkey boots from Solovair are great if you want to tone down the quirkiness a bit.
